Anyone ever been asked out of the blue to get married? About the time most of you were in diapers I was just out of college and attended Junior College (yeah, I know a little backwards, but what I learned in college wasn't getting me a job). Anyway, I started 'running around' with a couple guys. All we did was play D&D (back when it first started), go out to have pizza together and talk - we talked a lot. Anyway, the one guy and I went together several times, he brought me home one night and totally out of the blue asked me to marry him. Now, we are talking 5 years younger than me, never even kissed each other. And then I had to find a way to say "No" that wouldn't hurt his feelings - must have worked, we stayed friends for years, until he married his wife and she decided he didn't need to know any other women.

Strangely enough, yes. Some guy came up to me in a bus station when I was in college (the only commercial bus that I ever took anywhere -- my car was in the shop). He walked up, asked me to marry him, and when I said no, he asked if he could have the rest of my drink. *very weird* Even stranger, that was the day I met the Australain bloke I eventually married. He was on the same bus. Go figure.

Yeah, this guy that I had chatted with on AOL a few times and on the phone once or twice emailed me and at the end of the email, he said, "Will you marry me?"Damn, that was way too fast for me.

I've been seeing someone who has recently started talking about babies and how cute they are. Then he mentioned in passing if I wanted to get married. I said I dunno, never thought about it, which is more or less true. Then he said, "no I meant would you marry me".It was more a would I in principle, than a down on one knee job (I hope).I declined to comment and the jury's still out.Someone I'd never met before proposing like Viridian's would scare the hell out of me.

Here's a story for ya...not me, but my parents...On their second date, my dad looked at my mom and said "I'm going to marry you." Freaked her out.To this day, she doesn't know why she continued to go out with him, but she did. A year and a half after he did that, they were married. Now here we are, 30 years later. They are still married, relatively few problems, love each other to death, and have two great kids, IMHO. I guess the moral of the story is to always keep an open mind, and do things when YOU are ready to do them.

I've never been asked out of the blue, but a couple of male friends have asked in joking ways. One agreed that if we were 80 and still not married, we would get married.Another one jokingly said that if he was 45 and still not married, he would come knocking on my door with a ring. I have a feeling, if either of these situations were to come true, it would be the second friend, Tony (the 2nd mentioned).Other than that, my marriage prospects are few and far between which is fine with me; I can't really see me getting married at any time in my life out of choice and lack of options.
