Unusual kitchen utensils

At the door, pass out unusual kitchen utensils (ask guest to pick a utensil that could be used to describe one of their personality traits). At the table, ask each person to describe how their utensil relates to a personal trait, then serve dinner. Each guest should eat dinner with their unique utensil, along with a table knife provide at each plate.

Fast Food

Take your date to a favorite fast food restaurant. If you know someone who works there, ask him/her to set the table at a pre-arranged time with some nice table settings and battery-powered candles you've provided. Order your food, sit down, and enjoy a "candle-light" dinner in a fast food resturant.

Pizza crust

Prepare in advance a pizza crust for every two couples. Have all the makings (sauce, spices, cheese, meat) ready to put together. Let each group design its own pizza, with an emphasis on creativity (unique shapes, combinations, etc.)

Murder mystery

Send formal invitations to a murder mystery dinner. Pre-assign each person a character to portray. After dinner, play a game of clue as couples. Prizes go to the winning couple, with a consolation prize to the dying character.

progressive dinner

Have a progressive dinner. Start at the first girl/boy's house and eat appetizers, then drive to the next house for soup, then salad, then main course, and finally, dessert. Optional: Include clues which must be solved to determine which house to go to next.

A pot luck dinner

Have a pot luck dinner. The idea behind a pot luck dinner is that everyone brings something. As the host of a small party you would want to make the "main dish" and then have people bring other things like salads, side dishes, desserts, etc. You want to be sure to tell everyone exactly what to bring.
